Allison Grooms, RDN, CPT

Hello! My name is Allison Grooms, I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer.

Does this sound familiar? No matter how well you sleep, you still find yourself tired and longing for a nap! Your overall energy has taken a nosedive and no caffeine will touch it!

You feel like something is “off” and after doctor visits and tests, everything comes back “normal”, yet you are convinced otherwise.

You have elevated test results (cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc) but no matter how hard you try to make healthy changes in your diet and exercise, nothing changes.  The last resort is medication, and you would rather find a root cause, versus putting a “band-aid” over the problem.

Or maybe you suffer from itchy skin, joint pain, and/or an expanding waistband yet can’t seem to pinpoint why.

Let’s take a deeper dive into your cells and get to the root cause!

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a screening, not diagnostic, test that reveals the rate of mineral and heavy metal accumulation in a hair sample over the last 3-4 months. Mineral levels in the hair are about 10x that of the blood and represent what is going on at a cellular level. It is a functional test that can be used to determine the root cause(s) of symptoms.

Results can reveal:

  • How your body is responding to stress
  • Thyroid insight and how to better support it
  • Insight on minerals that support optimal blood sugar
  • Metabolic type
  • Deeper dive into digestive markers
  • Overall mineral levels

Get to know me!

I am a Colorado native, wife, and mother to three beautiful teen girls. I received my bachelor’s in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Colorado State University and did my internship at Tri-County Health Department. I have a Certificate in Adult Weight Management focusing on a non-diet approach. In addition to taking a deep dive into root causes and lab testing, I have also had extensive experience with both pre-and post-natal nutrition. I have had the pleasure of guiding patients through their pregnancy journey through nutrition support for mom and baby. This also includes providing nutrition guidance for breastfeeding, babies, toddlers, young children, and teens. I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and love being active and coaching other women to feel comfortable lifting weights and eating to support muscle growth and recovery and discovering what it means to have a healthy relationship with food and exercise.

My Philosophy:

“Everything in moderation”! So many people find themselves with rules on what to eat, what not to eat, and when to eat, creating more stress and less enjoyment of food. The same goes for exercise. However, when you know why certain foods are recommended and are essential, it makes eating food more meaningful and fun!

Want a deeper dive into gut health, hormones, and/or your relationship with food?

If you think I’m a good fit, but like the idea of some of the other services offered by the rest of our team, not to worry! I collaborate closely with our other providers, which means we can fill in any gaps, run the necessary tests, and get you the wide support that you need!
